Everything starts with a problem that needs solving.
It might be a frustrating eCommerce experience or an exciting app idea with no clear starting point. But to find the right solution, we first need to fully understand the problem.
When I design, I constantly come back to one core question: “What exactly is the problem we’re solving—and why?”
It’s surprisingly easy to lose sight of this when you're deep in the details of wireframes, colors, and flows.
To stay focused, I write the problem down. In fact, I write everything down. Putting thoughts to paper helps me process, remember, and stay grounded in the purpose of the design.

Research and Discovery
Once I understand the problem, I move into research and discovery, diving into competitive analysis to explore how others approached similar challenges.
I ask myself, “Is anyone else doing this?” and “What worked or didn’t work in their solution?”
I collect inspiration from platforms like Dribbble, Behance, and Pinterest, and create moodboards or visual references that guide my direction. Sometimes a small design detail, like the layout of a filter or the use of icons, can spark new ideas. Other times, it's the overall structure, typography, or color choices that influence my approach.
I believe that inspiration is everywhere when you're paying attention—so I document every idea along the way, no matter how small, to make sure nothing valuable gets overlooked.
